Engagement that TRANSFORMS Events and Gets RESULTS !!

The Engagement Friday Wrap-up November 25th, 2022

Events and holidays for November 25th and this week:

1792 Benjamin Banneker first publishes his Farmer's Almanac.

1905 Telimco makes the 1st ever advertisement for a radio set, by advertising a $8.50 set in the "Scientific American" which claimed to receive signals for up to one mile.

1942 "Casablanca" directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman premieres at Hollywood Theater, NYC (Academy Awards Best Picture 1943).

  • National Flossing Day
  • Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day
  • Buy Nothing Day
  • Black Friday
  • Blase’ Day
  • Maize Day
  • Sinkie Day
  • National Parfait Day

Start the day with a good Flossing, as you prepare to Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day (Can you whistle through your nose? How about balancing an apple on your chin? Can you say the alphabet backwards while belching?), and then figure out the conundrum of having both Buy Nothing Day on the same day as Black Friday (to shop, or not to shop?) and then consider Blase’ Day (Unimpressed by pumpkin spice everything? Heard the same pop song for the 4th time today? It’s okay to be blase’ about it today!), and while you are thinking about what to make for Maize Day (how about Creamy Chili-Lime Corn or Grilled Corn and Bean Salad) avoid being a Sinkie (someone who occasionally dines over the kitchen sink), and have your Parfait (banana split anyone?) sitting at the kitchen table.

Cheers 🦷🤹‍♀️💳💵🎃🌽🍽️🍌

PLAYSCHOOL PLAYSCAPES -- Mud Pie Kitchens

An amazing way to create hero-energy and give back to the local community. Groups build Mud Pie Kitchens or Buddy Benches to be donated to daycares and schools in need.

How it works:

Teams work in groups to win packages of materials and build outdoor play kitchens or buddy benches. These items are made from natural materials for daycares and elementary schools in areas where kids need the most support.

The goal is to encourage collaboration, communication, and creativity while giving back to the community in a hugely impactful way.

“Playschool Playscapes was incredible, I have had so much great feedback about how fun it was, and how much they loved the fact that we were “giving back. I have heard from many people that it was the best sales rally ever...so thank you for contributing to that in a big way!”

— Helen Pratt Fairmont Hotels & Resorts

The Engagement Friday Wrap-up November 18th, 2022

Events and holidays for November 18th and this week:

1928 Walt Disney's "Steamboat Willie" released, first Mickey Mouse sound cartoon.

1959 "Ben-Hur" directed by William Wyler and starring Charlton Heston premieres in New York City (Academy Awards Best Picture 1960).

  • Have A Bad Day Day
  • Mickey Mouse Day
  • National Princess Day
  • Road Safety Week
  • Housing Day
  • Apple Cider Day
  • National Vichyssoise Day
  • National Play Monopoly Day

Start the Have a Bad Day Day by greeting everyone you meet with your brightest, cheeriest smile you can put on your face, because chaos, my friends, is the heart of the revolution, and all revolutions started on a Bad Day.
Now that that is out of the way, lighten the mood by wearing your favorite Mickey Mouse Hat, or your Princess Dress (as everyone, no matter who they are, can be a princess) and add on extra reflective strips to your clothing to help out with Road Safety Week, before making a donation to a local Housing project (maybe Habitat for Humanity?), then pick up Apple Cider and leeks, onions, potatoes, cream and chicken stock for the Vichyssoise soup (pronounced “vish-e-swaz,” and remember to serve it cold) for your Monopoly game party tonight.

Cheers 🥴🐭👸🦺🏠🥂🍲🎲

Engagement in a Box

"Having Roger Haskett and Engagement Unlimited involvement in our organization over the past seven years has been an unquestionable game changer. Roger has taken member engagement and enthusiasm at our events to an unthinkable level that we would not have predicted when he first became involved. One of the keys of this success has been Roger’s willingness and ability to truly get to know our union and its culture and refine his materials to maximize its value to our members and our organization. Not to mention his widely popular evening entertainment such as Family Feud. Roger's attendance has become a huge draw for our members in coming back year after year. Thank you Roger and Engagement Unlimited!"

Video: Engagement is STILL the Answer

A Leg UP develops presentation, confidence, and stress management skills. It helps you become a bigger, better, more powerful version of yourself. It teaches you how to ‘rise to the occasion’ even when that feels like an impossibility.

By exploring new, powerful, rules for life, the class directs participants into behaviors that guide them more easily, more directly, to the me they want to be.

We focus on creating internal power by a combination of engaging and interactive sessions that focus on each participant working on these skills each class. Participants will be up on their feet working on controlling their brain and body before, during, and after walking into stressful situations.

This program changes people’s lives by disrupting the way you think about confidence, stress, internal power and who you want to be. And exploring new, powerful, rules for life, helps direct participants into behaviors that guide them more easily, more directly, to the me they want to be.

This work is immensely important for getting A Leg UP:

  • For Young Adults entering the workforce and adult lives. It gives them a Leg UP on some of the most important elements of real success: creating their own internal power, communicating well with others, creating positive energy and a healthier relationship with stress, adapting to change…
  • It's essential for Managers and Leaders to manage their internal worlds and create internal power that makes their jobs easier, more enjoyable, and far less stressful.
  • For the Executive Suite who are constantly being asked to rise to the occasion in a variety of different ways.
  • “I'm seeing positive changes in my team. Your work is changing lives. Thank you!”

“I found that your lessons and notes really help, in fact they help so much the interviewers commented on my positive energy and personality! Thank you so much for teaching me! I'm excited to use more of your lessons in other places in my life!”

“Already seeing the lessons pay off!”

"It is by going down into the abyss that we recover the treasures of life. Where you stumble, there lies your treasure." Joseph Campbell

"Follow your passion, stay true to yourself, never follow someone else’s path unless you’re in the woods and you’re lost and you see a path then by all means you should follow that." Ellen Degeneres

Join Richard Dawson Jr. as he hosts your very own customized version of the hit game show Family Feud! This version gets the whole gang involved with 3 rounds of questions with 10-15 team members per round. A lightning round face-off determines the winner and everyone is treated to a fun game of Name that Tune.

We bring an amazing host, assistant, and everything needed to create the best experience for your guests. Top 5 answers are on the board…let’s play!

Video: Why playing games is good for you!

Engagement is a Magnifier and Multiplier. Put engagement into a room (virtual or live) and magnify the benefits of what you want to get out of that room whether that is more engagement, creative fun, improved connections, better relationships, stronger bottom line and greater productivity.

Virtual and Live engaging Team Building options include:

Family Feud + Name That Tune

Engagement is the secret sauce that makes (virtual and live) events and meetings magical.

“... this was definitely the best team building exercise I've done not just at Oracle, but in my 15 year sales career. It was fun, engaging, and everyone felt good afterward. It was a perfect blend of needing to concentrate on the work / teamwork and enjoying the experience. Creative and worthwhile.”

An awesomely fun, on-trend group activity that gets participants up on their feet, singing, dancing, and battling head to head in the ultimate music competition. Your classic game show host will divide the room in half and pit teams against each other in a series of music-based games.

Top contenders on each side must face off before a neutral judging party and show off their best “Running Man” “Sprinkler” or even “Fax Machine” - whatever they can rock with the most confidence!

BLIND KARAOKE: An iconic pop/rock song is played, but right before the chorus, the music is cut and guests must guess the next set of lyrics.

Start the day with coffee and Cinnamon Raisin Bread, before heading out in your Wrinkled Raincoat (today is the birthday of Peter Falk, born in 1927, the actor who played the rumpled detective Columbo) and do some investigating of your own by Collecting Rocks (to learn more about the earth's material and become a geologist for a day), or maybe hunt down a Tradesman and invite him/her for a beer or a glass of Grenache, which is a bright red fruit and one of the most widely planted grapes in the world, and be Be(er) Responsible and raise your glasses to toast smart and safe drinking, and try some Guacamole and nachos while celebrating Mexican Independence Day, with Mexico's declaration of independence from Spain in 1810, a day filled with national pride, colorful parades, mariachi concerts, and food.

    Video: Facilitation

One of the things we regularly get asked to do is facilitation. One day, multiple days, workshops. Often it's our content and schedule, other times it's the client's content and schedule. Either way we bring some interesting and innovative energy and ideas to these events.
We start with Roger's Rules of Engagement that outlines for the participants how to act to best achieve results.

    Rules like:

  • Misery is Optional
  • Step Up/Step Back
  • Movement is Necessary
  • and the more fun YOU have the more fun THEY have
  • We create power in the room by empowering your participants. We create a 'hive mind' using the wisdom of crowds to lock in learning.

We work through your challenges using our engagement systems and tools for maximum results.

And running through it all is:

    The POWER of PLAY

We usually work with clients multiple times as facilitators. Because they come back:

    1. For more engagement energy.
    2. For more playful power.
    3. For more outstanding results.

“We couldn’t of picked a more perfect way to create bonding and open communication channels between team members."

The Facilitation was fantastic; it was just what our group needed after three long years of not being able to get together."

    Video: A Leg UP!

“I'm seeing positive changes in my team.

"Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." Mark Twain

"Speak softly and carry a big stick." Theodore Roosevelt
