What We Learned in 2025 — Engagement Is a Competitive Advantage

What We Learned in 2025 — Lesson #2

Engagement Is a Competitive Advantage

As we wrap up a busy 2025 & step into 2026, we’ve been reflecting on what worked — & what made the biggest difference for the teams we served this year.

Here’s one lesson we keep seeing again & again:

Engagement isn’t “nice to have.” It’s the advantage.

Core Insight

When people feel included, connected, & genuinely part of something…

    • participation increases

    • conversations deepen

    • learning sticks

    • trust builds faster

    • & your time together becomes worth far more than the budget line item

In other words:

Engagement multiplies everything you already invested in.

Meme Break!

A meme titled "Famous Topics in Art History: Hercules Attempting to Give His Cat a Pill," uses classical sculptures to humorously show the struggle, highlighting how engaging content can give you a competitive advantage in 2025.

Proof Moment

“Our Better Together Engagement Workshop with Roger & Engagement Unlimited was an ASTOUNDING TRIUMPH! Participant reviews were overwhelmingly positive, & the workshop’s impact was immediate & far-reaching… WHAT AN INCREDIBLE OUTCOME FROM A SINGLE DAYLONG WORKSHOP. Thanks Roger & Engagement Unlimited!”

A Tip You Can Use

Here’s a simple engagement design rule you can steal for free:

Don’t let energy flatline.

If you’re running a meeting or event longer than 30 minutes, build in a moment of participation every 12–15 minutes.

It doesn’t have to be a “big activity.”
It can be:

    • a quick question people answer with a show of hands

    • a 60-second partner share

    • a “what’s one thing you’d steal from this idea?” prompt

    • a micro-moment of laughter

    • a short story that invites reaction

Small moments of participation keep people in the room mentally — not just physically.

What This Unlocks

In 2026, we’re leaning even harder into designing engagement as a strategy — not entertainment.

Because when people feel connected, they don’t just show up…
They contribute.
And that’s where culture gets built.

To an Engaging Year!

Here’s to a year where people feel more connected — & where the rooms we gather in become places of belonging.
